23 Oct Wedding Most Personal… and Perfect!
Earlier this year we were delighted to host the big day for Sophie and Stratos Triantafillou.
Sophie and Stratos chose the beautiful Unitarian Chapel of Hale Barns for their wedding ceremony before moving on to hold their reception with us at The Bowdon Rooms. Our wedding planners were delighted to help them hold their perfect wedding day… including lots of individual touches to give a nod to the Greek element of their occasion!
This week we have spoken to Sophie and Stratos to find out all about their wedding and what they loved about their big day! Photography of the couple’s wedding was captured by Dan Vernon Photography.
As with many of our weddings, the couple revealed that they chose The Bowdon Rooms for it’s unusual Edwardian features, striking ballroom and our ability to add the personal touch!
“The venue is so different to the others that we viewed for our wedding” said Sophie, “we instantly got a good feeling about it. The wedding planner Karen made us feel at ease and showed us around the venue giving us lots of different ideas from previous weddings so that we were able to see the versatility of the rooms. There was a real personal touch.”
“We were completely blown away when we first saw the ballroom ready!” added Sophie “I said to Stratos on the way to the venue how excited I was to see it… and it didn’t disappoint.”
“I was nervous that some of the things that I had made wouldn’t have the effect I wanted … but they did. It was precisely how I had planned it. A lot of our guests mentioned how amazing the venue looked, especially with all the little finishing touches.”
On the day itself bride-to-be Sophie got ready surrounded by her bridesmaids before heading to the intimate surroundings of the Unitarian Chapel of Hale Barns.
From the 85 friends and family who attended the civil ceremony, a fantastic 160 guests arrived to share in the celebrations at The Bowdon Rooms. With a fun twist in the lovely summer weather, the reception bubbly was served outside surrounded by lots of wonderful personal touches including a photo booth and face-painting (for grown-ups too!).
Once the bubbly was flowing freely, the guests moved inside to the ballroom adorned with bespoke decorations created by Sophie. The Bowdon Rooms team had helped Sophie and Stratos continue their charming wedding style into their wedding reception with cork place name settings, beautifully strung bunting, fairy-lights and unique swaying lanterns.
“Karen the wedding planner was a great help,” explained Sophie, “I had lots of ideas for our wedding and Karen talked me through the logistics. At no point was there a feeling that I couldn’t achieve the look I was going for! Karen supported us with every idea, kept in touch with the necessities and allowed me to get on with the aspects of the wedding that I wanted – I felt that there was a great balance.”
Our acclaimed chefs created their usual magic with sumptuous dishes, kicking off with a fitting Mediterranean sharing platter including pitta bread, humous, salad and grilled halloumi. This was followed by platters of marinated chicken skewers, lamb skewers, tabuleh salad, pitta breads and dips. For the evening buffet, the mouth-watering Greek flavours reached an all-time high with the classic ‘pitta souvlaki’ served with meat, salad and chips in a warm pitta. Everything went down a storm!
“People commented on how good the food was, how different the venue was… and that everything had such a good feel to it!” Sophie added.
After the delicious food had been thoroughly enjoyed the evening’s chosen band, The Misfits made good use of our raised stage area. Plenty of guests joined in the party until late in the evening on our famous ballroom dance floor!
“I don’t think I fully understood when people told me that It would be the best day of my life” admitted Sophie, “I can say now that it truly was. Everything that we had planned was done to perfection, Karen was on hand throughout to make sure I was happy and the staff worked tirelessly.”
Our pleasure, as always. Congrats to the lovely Mr and Mrs Triantafillou!
