22 Dec “We fell in love with The Bowdon Rooms!”
The 17th September 2016 marked the Big Day for lovely couple Joanna Blackwell and Damian Swift. As love filled the air, the sunshine lit up the smiles on everyone’s faces – and it was sublimely celebrated at our award-winning venue in Bowdon, Altrincham. Content writer Nadia Danaos recaptures this magical day; alongside an inspirational photoset by Heather Kennedy.
The day began with some essential his ‘n’ hers accessory prep.
Below: Demure pearl jewellery for the bride, and a bouquet including hebes, roses and decorative foliage in soft shades of white, pink and purple.
…And for the groom: Tan brogues, belt and blue-purple tie to perfectly accessorise the grey three-piece suit:
With a wonderful sense of fun – our couple is ready for the best day of their lives:
Although The Bowdon Rooms is licensed for holding civil ceremonies as well as hosting the receptions, sometimes couples can choose to wed in local churches or Town Halls. Our couple chose to take their vows at the lovely St Saviour’s Church, not far from Bowdon.
Arriving in vintage style, Jo was walked down the aisle by proud dad, to meet her groom.
Witnessed by a congregation of Jo and Damian’s nearest and dearest, they officially became Mr and Mrs Swift…
It wasn’t long before it was time for post-wedding, sunny smiles!
After the fun snaps with friends and family, it was time for some special photos of the couple together.
Toasting with some bubbly in their glamorous open-top car, Jo and Damian were headed for some outdoor splendour at Denzell Gardens, a mere 5-minute drive from our wedding venue. With a beautiful 19th-century building surrounded by ornamental ponds, established trees and meadows of wild flowers, it makes for a truly picturesque backdrop in the sunshine…
A picture tells a thousand words… It wasn’t difficult to see what a great match Jo and Damian are in the happiness and love they express, as they strolled around these stunning grounds relaxed and care-free.
After this glorious sequence by photographer of the day, Heather Kennedy, Jo and Damian were finally Bowdon Rooms-bound. The happy couple and their guests were welcomed with bubbly in the bistro and upstairs lounge. Accommodating upto 230 guests in our largest reception room, our Edwardian venue is not only versatile but also spacious enough for guests to spread out and feel totally at ease.
“Damian and I fell in love with The Bowdon Rooms from the moment we walked in. We instantly knew it was the wedding venue for us! We loved the atmosphere and the quirky areas, especially the fireplace area and the balcony that Damian and I could escape to when we wanted a moment just the two of us!”
Beyond the beautiful vintage facade is a select team – including dedicated and experienced wedding organisers – so, Jo and Damian were in good hands. “Karen was amazing! She gave us all the help we needed, and always on the end of an email if we had any questions. Having her expertise put our minds at rest. We felt like fish out of water with organising a wedding but thanks to Karen, we were able to trust her and believe that the day was going to go smoothly.”
The grand ballroom – with its deco chandeliers, glistening fairy lights and draping voiles – became awash with the tasteful purple and pink hues of the day. To the words of the lovely Jo:
“Oh my gosh…it was absolutely stunning! I felt so overwhelmed and never felt so happy as that moment standing with my new husband, in front of a room I had always dreamed of. It was perfect. Better than we’d ever imagined.
Friends said how beautiful the venue was dressed – and both sets of parents were amazed and stunned by the team and how they had decorated everywhere. They commented on how organised Karen was and the fact that everything ran so smoothly.
I was glad that Karen and her team set it all up – this was a great weight lifted off our minds, knowing that it was all going to be done for us. And all the staff were so friendly and approachable.”
All in a day’s work for The Bowdon Rooms team…
As guests enjoyed the ambience of the venue, they also enjoyed the delights of the accredited Bowdon Rooms chefs. The tasty hot buffet menu included homemade dishes of creamy chicken and bacon casserole; lasagne or cheese and onion pie, with sides of salads and cooked vegetables. For dessert was a choice of tempting Tiramisu or hot apple pie. “The food was so tasty – and there was plenty of it! Everyone said that the food was better than most other wedding food they had tasted! We had some guests who had dietary requirements that were not a problem for the chefs. They were effortlessly accommodating.”
Then, after dinner followed two gorgeous wedding traditions…
Fun on The Bowdon Rooms sprung dance floor is what memorable weddings are made of, so on came the band to make good use of it: “The live band, Function Fever, were fab! They got everyone dancing all night and were so much fun! I missed the evening nibbles due to dancing so hard!”
A clearly delightful couple, we had immense pleasure in bringing Jo and Damian their dream wedding.
“It was simply perfect, more than we could have ever imagined. The whole process of a wedding can be so stressful but Karen and her team made it so easy and stress-free. My dream of a peaceful, meadow wedding came true.”
Warmest congratulations to the fabulous Mr and Mrs Swift!
