19 Jan The Blues Comes to Bowdon
Our Cheshire venue opened its vintage doors to the lovely Pauline Smith and Bo Kirton, with their wonderful blues-inspired wedding. A very cool theme was the vibe of this September afternoon…simply relaxed, fun and melodious. Providing the details of the day is content writer and blogger, Nadia Danaos; with photos by Lee Calver.
The day began at Sale Town Hall, where the couple took their vows. The Bowdon Rooms is ideally located approximately 5 miles from Sale, within easy reach of the amenities of Manchester and other local town environs, yet nestled in a leafy Cheshire village.
With an abundance of smiles, here they share some memories of the civil ceremony:
Something blue: Fabulously refreshing, our couple were in-sync with a nod to the non-traditional – including a flat cap for the groom, and floor-length crochet-style layered dress for our bride.
The blue hues extended to the bouquets for the bride and her bridesmaids, and their themed outfits:
The new Mr and Mrs congregated with their wedding guests, where the smiles continued…
After the outdoor photos, it was then on to one of the finest wedding venues in Cheshire, The Bowdon Rooms. With a deliciously exotic hint to the party theme, guests were served welcome drinks in the form of Caribbean-style rum punch in our bistro area.
As music-lovers and regulars at our venue, Pauline commented: “As we were already familiar with The Bowdon Rooms, we knew straight away that it’s what we wanted for our wedding.”
As guests were led into the ballroom – below the deco chandeliers and sparkly fairy lights – accents of the signature blue theme were subtly dotted around the room. When asked about the completed room, “We were overwhelmed with excitement and pride” commented our couple.
Simple and beautiful, each table was decorated by our bride with wedding-themed sprinkles and petals. All tables had a tree centrepiece, from which dangled slate hearts with the names of guests per table – which made ideal keep-sake party favours:
The Bowdon Rooms is reputed for excellent dining, and the world-accredited chefs were happy to oblige with the Caribbean-inspired theme. As colourful as the fabulous theme itself, sumptuous dishes included a vegetable pepperpot; Caribbean chicken and Caribbean lamb curry. All served with a choice of sides such as mango & rocket salad, Caribbean corn bread, sweet potato wedges, bean rice and Caribbean coleslaw. Our couple said, “The food was amazing!”
Dessert came in the form of the musically-themed wedding cake. A splendid creation by Michelle Ashworth, it reflected the colour and fun of Pauline and Bo’s fabulous celebrations:
Testament to our versatile venue providing a truly bespoke day for our couples, we were delighted to let our guests make it their own. As we’re also home to the Cinnamon Club – dubbed “the Ronnie Scott’s of the north – music is most definitely the food of love in our book! So, to enhance the atmosphere further, entertainment was second to none, when musicians and friends of the couple played and sang throughout the evening. The hues of blue soon met with the perfect soundtrack, when our very own groom took to the stage to perform a super-cool jamming session.
It was then time to pass the mic around for the fun speeches…
“All of our friends and family said they had a wonderful time. The venue was great and the entertainment was awesome!”
Amongst the dancing and general merriment, an evening buffet was available, serving up Mediterranean-inspired mezze. Platters of halloumi & mango spring rolls, dips, pitta bread and stuffed vine leaves were amongst the delectable feast.
It’s all about the satisfied customer for us. Great comments are music to our ears… “As far as we were concerned, The Bowdon Rooms offered us everything we required and more. We simply loved the venue and could not fault the team.”
It was our sincere pleasure to help make your big day come true! Congrats to the lovely Mr and Mrs Kirton!
