02 Mar All I Want For Christmas…
…is a perfect wedding at The Bowdon Rooms. Featuring all the delights of the festive season – complete with glittering Christmas tree, games and Santa’s grotto – this was the fabulous wedding of Rebecca Toombs and Jonathan Anelli. Christmas is a time for being with our nearest and dearest, and having fun – and that’s exactly what Rebecca and Jon did while tying the knot. Retelling their wonderful day is content writer Nadia Danaos, while photographer Neil Redfern captured the images.
With smiles abound, the boys start as they mean to go on. Jon with his best men, below:

Although our venue is licensed for holding civil ceremonies too, and can therefore host your entire wedding day, we’re just as happy providing the dining and party aspect – as we did for Rebecca and Jon – ensuring that the occasion continues in style.
Anticipation: The ceremony begins…

Tea and coffee followed at the church, before the wedding party made its way to our Edwardian premises. The couple commented: “The Bowdon Rooms is an old building with lots of character. We liked that it was such a large space to fit all our guests in.”
With extra guests attending the reception, we were able to accommodate Rebecca and Jon’s 160-strong guest list. The grand ballroom – the largest of our two reception rooms – can adequately hold 230 guests …as well as a 16-piece swing band on the stage!
With its period features and genuine, amiable staff, there’s a je ne sais quoi to our establishment that guests instantly warm to… “We both felt straight away that it was right for us.”

Getting everything spot-on for your wedding day is somewhat of a skill, so with a little help from our experienced wedding organisers, it will all come together beautifully. From photographers and lighting, to florists and décor, our planners are on-hand to help create the magic. “We received lots of assistance in planning the food and managing our activities.”
Rebecca and Jon chose a ‘winter wonderland’ theme, with seasonal celebratory accents of red and silver sparkle, which was perfectly placed throughout the venue. This included delightful Christmas additions such as stockings, crackers and of course the dazzling 15-foot tree…
…and not forgetting the Mr and Mrs mistletoe archway…
The ballroom was awash with festive colour and wedding glamour; transformed into Rebecca and Jon’s vision…
“We were so excited to see it and it was absolutely perfect – exactly what we wanted!”

With our acclaimed chefs serving up sumptuous menus, the bride and groom opted for a two-course wedding breakfast. Guests dined on pulled pork Wellington with a cider sauce and vegetables, followed by a delectable dessert of triple-choc cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and raspberry coulis. “The food went down very well!” added our bride.
For the evening buffet, external caterer Maxine’s Mobile Pizza added to the fun atmosphere.
“Guests commented on the Christmas tree which was huge and fit perfectly with our themes!”
“We had a lot planned and were nervous that it wouldn’t be the way we had hoped, but it was all just how we’d imagined it!”
In-keeping with tradition, some funny speeches followed dinner…
…and for some more fun, the ultimate Christmas tradition followed when Santa came to Bowdon!
“The fairy lights made it look so special” said our couple, as photographer Neil Redfern captured Rebecca and Jon’s profound love for each other, against the backdrop of our handsome setting.
The bride and groom chose a selection of music from Spotify as the soundtrack for the evening – so it was only fitting that the stage was put to good use by the wedding guests themselves…in the form of karaoke. It was another wonderfully light-hearted feature of the evening which got everyone out of their seats and onto our reputed sprung maple dancefloor. The ideal way to complete this very special day!
“The venue was fantastic and exactly what we wanted. The team dressed it beautifully and followed our directions perfectly!”
We were so delighted to help create Rebecca and Jon’s dream wedding…it was a very merry Christmas occasion, cherished by all. Warmest congratulations to Mr and Mrs Anelli!
