16 Feb A Dream Come True for Katie and Mark
With all the hallmarks of a true dream wedding, it was a real pleasure tamoxiver for The Bowdon Rooms to host the big day of Katie and Mark Waters. This fairytale beginning featured top wedding planners, acclaimed chefs and an award-winning vintage setting; culminating in a momentous occasion for this fabulous bride and groom. Content writer and blogger, Nadia Danaos, unveils the story; accompanied by an inpsired photoset by Steve D Photography.
A sunny afternoon in August formed day one of the matrimonial journey for this lovely couple.

And, the finishing touch for Katie…her bridal shoes inscribed with “I do”.
With a choice of two reception spaces at The Bowdon Rooms, our grand ballroom was Katie and Mark’s choice to host the civil ceremony. Our couple confessed, “We both fell in love with The Bowdon Rooms as soon as we arrived there for a wedding fair!”
Anticipating the arrival of his bride, it wasn’t long before the lovely Katie made an appearance down the aisle, serenaded by a pianist.
Amongst the draping voiles and glittering soft lights, guests looked on as Katie and Mark exchanged their vows…

As the afternoon was a fine one, the wedding party enjoyed some post-ceremony snaps outside our Edwardian premises. Katie and Mark’s chosen vintage steed was provided by Kensington Wedding Cars, and fit beautifully within the vintage setting.

For some more fabulous photos, a short five-minute drive took the bride and groom to a haven of flora. Against the gorgeous backdrop of local beauty spot, Denzell Gardens – with its ornamental ponds, 18th-century manor house and wild flower meadows – Katie and Mark made the most of nature in the sunshine!
Clearly made for each other, Katie and Mark enjoyed every minute of their splendid memorable day.
Returning back to The Bowdon Rooms where the celebrations continued, glasses of Bucks Fizz were enjoyed in the bistro beside the fire place. Our couple commented: “The Bowdon Rooms is a beautiful venue – full of quirks and great character. It has the unique ability to take on almost any theme you can think of while retaining its own character.”
Meanwhile, the couple added a few lovely personal quirks of their own…
The beauty of hosting your nuptials in a handsome Edwardian building is that there’s an abundance of character within the environs. So, Katie and Mark found different parts of our premises to say ‘cheese!’…
And while the cameras clicked and the drinks supped, the ballroom was being transformed from civil ceremony-setting to spectacular dining room-setting, by our very own wedding organisers.
“Karen and her team were invaluable to us when it came to organising the day. We had a three-year build up to our event and Karen was with us every step of the way. Every part of our day was catered to with dedication and professionalism that you rarely find.”
The couple’s theme was pink with simple yet classic candelabras for the table centrepieces – which all sat beneath the sparkling fairy lights and art deco chandeliers.
“We were very emotional when we first saw the room dressed! It looked absolutely stunning!”
“Karen helped us decide on themes, colour schemes and menu choices and was always considerate and welcoming of our ideas. Karen and her team were absolutely amazing from start to finish. When it came to organising the day, there was no request too big or small. Karen is an absolute pleasure to work with and a consummate professional.
The wedding we had planned was executed to perfection. We could not have asked for more from Karen and her team.”
When it was time, the curtains were opened for the grand reveal, where the guests took to their seats.
Guests dined on a classic menu of tomato and basil soup, followed by oven-roasted chicken with stuffing, potatoes and vegetables drizzled with gravy. Dessert was to-die-for homemade profiteroles. The Bowdon Rooms resident chefs are the acclaimed Herb & Spice caterers. They not only offer excellent varied dishes that guests always love, but they are happy to discuss any preferences and dietary requirements, to tailor the menu accordingly. “All of the food was delicious, and the guests were very complimentary.”
An evening buffet was also provided – in the form of a sumptuous feast of meze-style platters, featuring a selection of cold meats; chillied halloumi and mango spring rolls; stuffed vine leaves – all served with delicious trimmings including olives, pitta bread and homemade dips. No one ever leaves a Bowdon Rooms wedding hungry! “All of our guests loved the delicious food. The evening meze went down an absolute treat – it was a fantastic suggestion by Karen.”
Then, the obligitory traditions of speeches and cutting of the cake followed…
…and not forgetting the other tradition for the single ladies…
Music was also a big feature of this wedding – with the serenading pianists during the ceremony and brilliant band for an after-dinner boogie. All provided by The Live Piano Experience. As The Bowdon Rooms is also a favourite hotspot for live music, it is perfectly equipped to accommodate most musical tastes.
Complete with a bouncy maple-wood dance floor, guests love to let their hair down!
With nearly 15 years of creating matrimonial magic at The Bowdon Rooms, the inspirational team have helped so many couples achieve their dream day. And Katie and Mark were certainly no exception.
“Karen and her team at The Bowdon Rooms helped us have the wedding day that we both dreamed of and we will never be able to thank them enough for making it so perfect.”
The pleasure was ours. Massive congratulations to the wonderful Mr and Mrs Waters!
