28 Jan ‘Tis the Season to be Married
Amid the delights of the winter season, our bride and groom celebrated in serious festive style…all brought to them by a charming establishment in Altrincham. Surrounded by pine cones and mulled wine, Laura Hamm and Brendan McMahon said ‘I do’. Recapturing their fabulous day is Nadia Danaos, with images from SJW Photography.
On a chilly day in December, Laura and Brendan’s day began…
The bride’s dainty ring, abed a simply elegant white rose and gypsophila bouquet, arranged by Barkers the Florist.
Laura’s sister and Maid of Honour ties a bow on the stunning lace appliqué dress from Swan Brides.
Looking every inch the demure bride, Laura is ready to meet her groom.

For Laura and Brendan, the Christmas season was much more than presents under the tree – it was a gift of love by officially becoming Mr and Mrs McMahon!
After the ceremony, guests made their way back to The Bowdon Rooms – the vintage venue with a reputation for creating some of the northwest’s most fabulous weddings.
Meanwhile, the bride and groom partook in some snaps for the wedding album:

For an ideal winter-warmer, guests were received by mulled wine and canapés of warm mince pies and gingerbread – enjoyed in the Bistro where the open fireplace adds a touch of charm. Our bride commented, “We liked the warm and welcoming feel we got from the area around the fireplace, as well as the high ceilings…on first seeing the venue, we decided quickly that The Bowdon Rooms was for us.”
And while the party warmed up with drinks and nibbles, our wedding organisers were completing the pièce de résistance! The glamorous ballroom, with its domed ceiling and art deco chandeliers, is always a show-stopping reception room. Of the wedding planning, our couple said: “Both Karen and Suzanne were very communicative and friendly – and they also helped us achieve the budget we had in mind. Both ladies made several suggestions which helped make our wedding day so special.”

“We were extremely happy with how the venue looked on the day! The extra decorations we brought in had been placed brilliantly. It was clear that Sarah from Barkers the Florist had spoken to Karen to help make the flowers in others areas match the table centrepieces beautifully.
The room looked absolutely beautiful, there was so much to take in!”
While the guests were surrounded by tasteful festive décor, it seemed only fitting that they dined on a tasty festive menu… And The Bowdon Rooms acclaimed chefs always step up to the plate. Christmas dinner with all the trimmings was served up and heartily enjoyed, followed by a choice of winter berry cheesecake or profiteroles. All brought to the guests by impeccably attentive staff.. “The waiting staff were very helpful and polite. We even noticed how their ties matched our chosen colour of drapes which was brilliant!”
Meanwhile, outside was rather bitterly cold…but that didn’t stop the wedding party from writing their names in the night air with gold glitter. That’s right, sparklers were also on the agenda!
With snowman cake decorations, a photo booth and sparklers, there’s no doubt that the McMahon wedding was always going to be a fun, memorable occasion.
…And not forgetting the superhero cufflinks…
With a bit of wedding tradition for good measure – cutting the cake (created by Martyn Jackson):
Then, it was time for music; something which The Bowdon Rooms, as an acclaimed music venue, does rather well. With a full-size stage and sprung maple dancefloor, the partying was about to shift up a gear… The chosen band for the evening was the brilliant Soul Revolver, which got everyone shaking a tail feather!
“Since the wedding, many of our friends and family have said how beautiful the venue looked, matching the winter wedding theme we’d hoped for. We had an amazing wedding day!”
Whatever the theme, we simply love to bring it all together for our special couples! Hearty congratulations to the lovely Laura and Brendan McMahon!
